The Northwest Columbia Heights Community Association's Operation LiveLink is a program that improves police response time and enhances public safety through enabling community members to provide information about crimes in progress and suspicious activity directly to responsible police officers. The Northwest Columbia Heights Community Association partnered with the Metropolitan Police District to launch Operation LiveLink in our area in 2008.

How Does Operation LiveLink Work?
When a community member reports a crime or suspicious activity to 911, the community member then places a call to Operation LiveLink. The call goes directly to a cell phone carried by a responsible, on-duty officer in the neighborhood. The community member can give specific details and provide the officer with needed information without delay. This program is not meant to replace 911. Community members must still report a crime or suspicious activity to 911. Often, descriptions of suspects, location information other useful facts are lost as they make their way from the 911 operator to the dispatcher and then finally to the responding officer. This can be avoided by making the direct call to the officer on duty via the Operation LiveLink program.
Bi-lingual officers respond to Operation LiveLink calls in Spanish.
